Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic debilitating condition that interferes a great deal with an individual’s quality of life. Some of the common symptoms include gas, bloating, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Unfortunately most doctors don’t understand the condition and don’t know how to appropriately treat it. IBS could be caused by dysbiosis, hypochlorhydria, SIBO, food sensitivities, increased intestinal permeability, and many more. The cause is found through a careful history, specific questioning, and laboratory work that is performed by a doctor that has received specialized training in IBS like Dr. Schmutz

Microscopic Colitis

" Early last summer I experienced a four-week long bout of diarrhea. I first visited an urgent care clinic and they were unable to find the cause of my symptoms. My next step was to make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. One colonoscopy later, I was diagnosed with microscopic colitis. I was offered medications aimed at reducing symptoms and controlling flare-ups. I respectfully declined the meds and made an appointment with Dr. Schmutz. "
